UNIKO COFFEE is more than just your average roaster. We strive to provide our consumers with excellent coffee as well as support our growers. We believe our product shows the work we put into roasting our beans and also represents our growers and the work they and their families put into each crop. We travel directly to the origin and work with them to ensure their crops are always of the highest quality and 100% organic. At Uniko Coffee we only buy premium organic coffee. However, if we meet a grower whose product does not yet meet the standard quality, we will help them make sure they achieve the standards at the time of their next harvest. Once those standards are met, we can purchase their coffee directly at a price that honors their hard work.
We ensure that our coffee not only fulfills our mission to support our growers but that it is also only the highest quality 100% Organic Arabica Coffee. Each coffee from its origin is graded and capped in-house by a master roaster to guarantee that these standards are met according to the Specialty Coffee Association of America.
We promise excellence from ground to cup!
A Passion for others and her love of coffee is the power that continues to fuel Susan Jaime. Susan took a trip to Southern Mexico with a group of about 30 micro-growers, mainly women, with samples of their green coffee beans that changed her life. She connected with a few indigent coffee farmers while there and started building relationships, teaching and educating them around their coffee bean production from “ground to cup.” Her commitment and promise is to represent every individual grower well. Nearly 20 years later, Susan is still adamant and very passionate about “helping” others and giving back to her community. Uniko Coffee, based in San Antonio, Texas now buys beans from hundreds of small organic coffee farms in six Latin American countries. Uniko Coffee is served in some of the city’s top restaurants (it’s also sold at Gaucho Gourmet and Melissa Guerra). Uniko Coffee’s success is built on quality and education. Susan earned the prestigious Licensed Q Grader certification from the Coffee Quality Institute, an international nonprofit that provides training and technical assistance to coffee producers worldwide.“The group supports the standards for top-quality “specialty” grade coffee as defined by the Specialty Coffee Association of America.” The certification authorizes her to evaluate coffee beans, assess them for defects, and assign a preliminary score to the harvest, which determines the price. “The ultimate goal of the Q Grading program is to improve the quality of coffee and the lives of the people who produce it.” Susan is making a difference literally around the world, especially here in San Antonio with her unique training in grading “Specialty” coffee, her passion and heart.
